Thursday, December 22, 2022. A multi-vehicle collision in Anaheim resulted in one fatality and ten injuries.
Eight vehicles were involved in a collision at the intersection of Ball Road and Magnolia Avenue at 2:15 p.m., according to Anaheim Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Shane Carringer. A female driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her identity was withheld pending family notification.
Carringer reported that ten drivers and passengers of other vehicles were injured in the collision, including one person who was transported to a hospital with moderate injuries. The remaining nine injured were treated on-site.
Thursday afternoon, the cause of the collision was not immediately disclosed, and the intersection will likely remain closed for the remainder of the day as authorities continue their investigation.
Dat Nguyen, a 59-year-old mechanic at a shop across the street, stated that he witnessed the collision. He stated that one of the vehicles was traveling between 60 and 80 miles per hour on Ball and ran a red light. According to him, this driver struck a car on Magnolia that had the right-of-way.
After that, he said, the first vehicle continued driving and struck other vehicles.
He stated that it was the second fatal collision at that intersection this year and suggested that the city install a speed bump.
