Pedestrian fatally struck on highway near Hollister

A man was killed Friday night when he was struck by a vehicle on State Highway 25 just north of Hollister, the California Highway Patrol reported Saturday.

The guy was walking on the side of Highway 25 (Bolsa Road) just south of Wright Road, in unincorporated San Benito County, around 10 p.m. Friday when he allegedly walked into the path of a northbound Chrysler Town & Country driven by a Hollister woman.

Emergency responders were not able to revive the man, and he had been declared dead at the scene. The driver wasn’t hurt.

The guy was carrying no identification. The San Benito County Coroner’s Office is working to ascertain his identity.

The CHP said it seems that neither alcohol nor drugs was a factor in the collision.
