SAN JOSE — An 82-year-old man who was hit by a car last week has died from his injuries, the city’s 13th pedestrian fatality of the year, according to police.
On Sept. 6 at about 9:05 p.m., the guy was walking eastbound from the crosswalk on White Road at Rocky Mountain Drive against a red light when he was hit by a driver driving a 2011 Honda CRV, according to San Jose police.
The man was rushed to a hospital, where he died two days later, police announced Thursday.
The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Tru Nguyen of San Jose.
On the night of the crash, the 28-year-old female driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said. Investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, which indicated the city’s 33rd traffic-related fatality of 2018.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Detective Kevin Pham of the San Jose Police Department’s Traffic Investigations Unit at 408-277-4654.
